CHATHAM
HOUSE
Presents
Ukraine’s Transformation:
Assessments and Solutions
5 July 2017
Lancaster
House, London, UK
Since 2014 Ukraine has been facing
challenges unprecedented in recent history, as it tries to transform its
ineffective state while constantly under the pressure of Russian military
aggression. Success in unlocking economic potential depends upon securing
boarders, eliminating corruption and establishing a rule of law. The government
in Kyiv has undertaken a series of reforms in attempt to open the country to
the West, increase transparency and stabilize the economy. But much remains to
be done.
With coverage of Ukraine largely
absent from the Western media, this Chatham House conference will provide a
high-level ‘warts and all’ discussion about Ukraine’s successes and its
failures. Does Ukraine matter for European security? If so, how? What are the
domestic political impediments to change? How can economic growth be
kick-started?
The
speakers include:
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze,
Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Ukraine
James
