 The Ukrainian-British City Club is pleased to present to you the UBCC/YCC panel discussion “Outlook for Ukraine’s Economy in 2006” (with a special emphasis on the recent Gas Agreements) which will be taking place at Millennium Bridge House, 2 Lambeth Hill, London EC4V 4AJ on Thursday 9 March 2006, hosted by Salans. 
The panel will consist of the leading City economists who specialise in emerging markets and Ukraine in particular: Timothy Ash of Bear Stearns, Sergei Voloboev of Credit Suisse and Dmitri Shemetilo of WestLB.

Timothy Ash is Managing Director for Emerging European Sovereign Fixed Income Research at Bear Stearns in London. Tim has been with Bear Stearns since 2000. Prior to joining Bear Stearns he was senior sovereign EMEA economist with West Merchant/WestLB, Caspian Securities and ABN Amro. He also had stints with the Economist Intelligence Unit producing 5 year country forecasts and country risk reports for a host of transition economies, including Ukraine. He lived in Ukraine in the mid-1990s for a year working on a privatisation/restructuring project, and has worked in similar capacities for the EU, HMT, UN, and DFID, and World Bank. He has a BA and MA in economics from ManchesterUniversity and spent four years as a research fellow in Transition issues at ExeterUniversity and Herior-WattUniversity.
Sergei Voloboev is a Director within the Emerging Market Economics Research group at Credit Suisse, where he is responsible for covering Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Lebanon and several other Middle Eastern countries. He joined the bank in February 1995.  In 1989-1991, he worked for the Middle East and North Africa Department of the then Soviet Foreign Ministry. He worked as an economist at the Russian Embassy in Iraq (through January 1991) and thereafter as desk officer for Saudi Arabia and Kuwait at the Foreign Ministry in Moscow. Sergei graduated with an Honours Diploma in International Economics from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), and holds a Masters degree in International and Development Economics from YaleUniversity. He was awarded the Edmund S. Muskie fellowship for graduate studies in the US, and is fluent in Russian, English and Arabic.

 Dmitri Shemetilo is a Director at WestLB, London, working as an Emerging Market Strategist. His experience includes three years of sovereign credit EM fixed income strategy with Commerzbank AG, London, and six years of research and trading experience in local fixed income markets with Commerzbank Capital Markets, Prague. Dmitri is a CFA charterholder,  a  PhD  in  Economics (CharlesUniversity, Prague), and has a Master’s Degree in Physics from the Polytechnical Institute, St. Petersburg.

The Ukrainian-British City Club is a non-profit organisation set out in the United Kingdom for promotion of trade and business between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
